Handmade Jewelry Features Real Flowers & Insects in Clear Resin
Self-proclaimed amateur naturalist “Caron’s,” owner of the independent shop Leavesof3, first passion is to showcase nature’s beauty in the form of conservative and preservative jewelry. An avid hiker of the wild Appalachian mountains, the artist occasionally uses real life beetles, butterflies and other insects in her work. The main focus is to collect these creatures as humanely as possible. The multi-legged critters are picked out of spiderwebs, a neighbors’ lamp post, the woods or her garden.
Although using flowers in resin handmade jewelry is common, she goes as far as using an unorthodox choice of greenery, poison ivy leaves.
She is extremely conscious of the flowers used to elevate the beauty of her accessories. Most of them feature brightly colored plants, to create an iridescent effect. A variety of intense hues of purples, blues, pinks and yellows are used to achieve vibrancy. Most of her work reminds us of traces of the forest, mountains and memorabilia a fairy would wear around her neck. The artist consciously creates art for nature and entomology lovers. Se qualcuno mi avesse mai detto che sarei diventata anche io parte di questo meraviglioso mondo di exchange students.. la verità? non ci avrei mai creduto, eppure eccomi qui, a 42 giorni dalla partenza, non so cosa aspettarmi, cosa vivrò, cosa proverò… la mia unica certezza è di sapere che finalmente uscirò da questa gabbia per vivere veramente.
